Chelsea FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — CHELSEA: BUY THE FRONT DOOR, BOARD UP THE BACK Chelsea are a team of two halves right now — one of the league's four sharpest attacks bolted onto a defence our model ranks 18th of 20. That's not a quirk. That's the whole buying decision on one line.
What has not being with FFIQ cost you this season?
One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

The fixtures make it worse for the back and better for the front. Bournemouth, Everton, Spurs, United, Sunderland, Leeds — four at Stamford Bridge, plenty of goals in it at both ends. Our projections like Chelsea to score most weeks and concede most weeks too. So the value here sits entirely at the attacking end, and pretending otherwise is how you end up with a £5.0m defender collecting 2s.
The table tells you who. What it can't tell you is why Rogers sits above Palmer despite the cheaper price tag, and it's the boring reason I always give you: he's on free kicks, he's started every week, and at £7.7m he's nearly two million cheaper for a projection that actually comes out ahead over the next six. Palmer has the penalties and the bigger single-week upside — on his day he goes massive — but you're paying £9.7m for the ceiling and getting the same starting record. About 4 in 10 managers already own Rogers; under 3 in 10 have Palmer. If you can afford both, fine. If it's one, take the one that costs less and projects more. That's not romance, that's arithmetic.
Now the caveat, and it's a proper one: our model doesn't consider anyone in this squad fully nailed. Five starts from five for the two midfielders is as good as it gets here, but this is a squad that shuffles, so watch the teamsheets. Welbeck at £5.9m is the trap — one start all season. A forward who doesn't play is a bench slot you paid for.
The defence? Leave it. Martinez at £5.0m looks like classic Cheapy territory — cheap keeper, four starts — but a cheap keeper behind the 18th-best defence facing this attacking run isn't value, it's a weekly invitation to concede. Same goes for Lacroix and Fofana. Clean sheets are the product; this shop isn't selling them.
The call: buy Rogers at £7.7m as your way into Chelsea's fixtures. Palmer only if the budget's already there. Nobody from the back line — not at any price.
