Bournemouth FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
Bournemouth: the value's at the back, the route in is Tavernier
Tavernier takes Bournemouth's corners, takes their free kicks, and is third in line for penalties — and at £6.0m, with well under 1 in 10 managers owning him, he's the cheapest way into a set-piece monopoly you'll find anywhere in the midfield bracket. Our model has him top of every Bournemouth asset over the next six, good for around 33 points across the run — a steady 5-6 a week with the dead-ball hauls on top. He starts every game. That's the whole pitch, really.
The wider picture backs him up. Bournemouth sit in the league's top third at both ends — seventh-best attack, sixth-meanest defence by our numbers — and while the attacking fixtures are only average, the clean-sheet run is genuinely kind. Which tells you where the sneaky value sits: the defensive end. Hill at £5.5m is owned by almost literally nobody and projects better than most defenders a pound dearer. Petrović at £4.5m is a starting keeper behind a top-six defence — that's the definition of an enabler who actually plays.
The honest caveat: look at those fixtures. Liverpool at the Vitality, Chelsea away, United away — three of the six are proper tests, and the clean-sheet optimism leans heavily on Brentford, Sunderland and Leeds at home. Bank the defensive points in those three, accept the other three might be blanks. And note who *isn't* the pick up front — Evanilson ranks below both midfielders and the defenders in our ordering. £6.0m for a striker sounds like value; the model's saying the goals flow through the wide players and the set pieces, not through him. Don't buy the name.
So: if you want one Bournemouth player, it's Tavernier — nailed, on everything dead-ball, £6.0m, and nobody owns him. If you want two, Hill or Petrović is the quiet second move that funds a premium elsewhere. Buy Tavernier before Brentford at home; skip the striker.
