Arsenal FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Arsenal FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 12 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

Arsenal: buy the back, not the front

The league's meanest defence is about to face Leeds, Everton and Hull at home, with Brighton and Forest away in between. If you've been waiting for a window to load up on Arsenal clean sheets, this is it — and the good news is you don't need to pay top whack to do it.

Our model has the value sitting firmly at the back. Calafiori tops the whole Arsenal list at £5.8m — nailed, projected around 24-25 points over the next six, and already sitting in about 5 in 10 squads, so the template has worked this one out. He's the pick because he gives you the clean-sheet run at £2.2m less than Gabriel, who projects slightly higher but is priced for his best weeks rather than his ordinary ones. If you're paying £8.0m for a defender, you're funding it from somewhere — and Calafiori does 90% of the job.

The proper sleeper is White at £5.5m. Same defence, same fixtures, nailed, projecting a shade above Calafiori's price bracket deserves — and fewer than 1 in 10 own him. If the £5.8m is spoken for elsewhere, that's your route in. Raya at £6.0m does the same job in goal, with save points on top, for anyone rebuilding between the sticks.

One warning on the bargain bin: Konsa at £4.5m looks like the classic enabler price, but he's started once. A cheap defender who doesn't play is worth exactly nothing. Leave him until the minutes are real.

The attack is the other side of this coin. Arsenal rank around mid-pack going forward and the run is genuinely tough for goals — Brighton and Liverpool away are no place to chase attacking returns. Saka is the exception the model still rates: penalties, free kicks, corners, nailed, and barely 1 in 10 own him at £9.5m. He's a fine hold and a sneaky punt if you're behind in your league. Ødegaard at £6.7m is the honest mid-price alternative. But nobody at this club should be your captain over the next six weeks — the goals aren't where the fixtures are kind.

The call: buy the Arsenal defence now — Calafiori if you can, White if you're squeezed — and let the pricier attackers wait until the fixtures turn. Reliable minutes, elite clean-sheet odds, sensible prices. That's the whole job description.
