Manchester United FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — United's defence ranks 16th in the league by our numbers, and their fixtures for clean sheets are only average. Remember that, because half the "value" on this page is at the wrong end of the pitch. Start with what's actually good. This is the fifth-best attack in the division heading into a kind run — Fulham away, then Spurs and…
What has not being with FFIQ cost you this season?
One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

Fernandes is the model's top pick and he'll deliver — pens, free-kicks, corners, never rested, usually good for 6-7 a week with the odd monster. But at £12.0m you're paying for all of that up front, and about 4 in 10 managers already have him, so there's no cleverness in it. He's the safe premium, not the value.
The value is Mbeumo. Nailed, on set pieces alongside Fernandes, projected within touching distance of players costing four million more, and only about 2 in 10 own him. A £7.9m midfielder who starts every week in a top-five attack with this fixture run is exactly what funds the expensive stuff elsewhere in your squad. Cunha at the same price is the shinier name with fewer than 1 in 10 owners, but the model ranks him below Mbeumo for a reason — same shirt, less reliable output. Don't pay the same money for the second-best route into the same attack.
Now the honest bit. Maguire and Lammens at £4.9m look like classic enablers, and they do start. But a 16th-ranked defence with Chelsea away and Villa at home in this run is not where clean sheets live. A cheap defender who plays is only worth more than one who doesn't if the team behind him occasionally keeps the ball out. Tielemans, quietly, is the better budget punt — £5.9m, starts every week, third on pens, owned by almost nobody.
The call: buy Mbeumo — he's the price-to-points sweet spot on this page. Fernandes is a fine hold or captain against Fulham if you already own him, but don't sell a working premium to fund him. And leave the defenders in the table where they belong.
