Leeds United FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
Leeds: the value is all at the back — and it's cheap
Our model rates Leeds' defence the meanest in the league. Not top six, not "surprisingly solid for a promoted-ish side" — first of twenty. And the market hasn't caught up, because the three players sitting on top of our Leeds list are a £4.6m full-back, a £5.0m keeper and a £5.0m centre-half, none of them owned by more than about 1 in 10 managers.
The fixture list reads scarier than it plays. Arsenal and Chelsea away look grim on paper, but between them sit Sunderland, Bournemouth and a home date with Manchester United and Spurs — and our projections call the run a very kind one for clean sheets overall. For a backline this stingy, that's where the points live.
Bogle is the pick. He tops our Leeds rankings, he's started every week, and at £4.6m he's exactly the kind of player who funds a premium elsewhere without costing you points to do it. Trafford and Muharemović sit right behind him on near-identical projections — if you'd rather the keeper route, Trafford is the cheapest way into the same clean sheets. Justin at £4.5m is the deep-value play if every penny matters, though he gives up a little projection for the saving. Gudmundsson, note, has only started three of five — he's the one cheap option I'd leave alone.
Now the honest bit: don't follow the crowd to the other end. Calvert-Lewin is the most-owned Leeds asset by a distance — roughly 2.5 in 10 managers have him — but our model ranks him *below* three defenders half-a-million cheaper, Leeds' attack sits mid-table at best, and the fixtures are a tough run for goals. He's on penalties, which is his whole case. That's a player priced for his best week, not his typical one.
The call: buy Bogle. If you need a keeper, Trafford does the same job. And if you own Calvert-Lewin, this run is your window to move him on and let the defence carry the Leeds shares instead.
