The tables tell you who costs what. What they can't tell you is where the value actually lives, and it's all at one end. Bogle is the pick of the lot — nailed, starting every week, and at that price he's the kind of defender who funds a premium elsewhere while quietly clearing four or five points most weeks. Trafford and Muharemović are the same bet in different shirts: both start, both lean on the same defence, both owned by hardly anyone — roughly 1 in 10 at most. Justin at £4.5m is the deepest cut of the bunch if every penny matters. Gudmundsson is the one to leave alone — three starts from five is exactly the sort of rotation that turns a cheap defender into dead money.
Now the romance check. Calvert-Lewin is the most-owned Leeds asset by a distance — about 2 or 3 in 10 have him — and he's on penalties, which is something. But a 14th-ranked attack heading into a brutal run of opponents is not where I spend £6.0m. He's priced for what he might do, not what he reliably does. If you want Leeds attacking exposure, Stach at least adds free kicks and corners to a guaranteed start, but even he's a watch, not a buy.
The fixtures look scary on paper — Arsenal away, United at home, trips to Bournemouth and Chelsea — yet our projections still like the shutout chances, because this defence travels. The thing that changes the call is simple: if the clean sheets don't come in the first two or three, the whole case thins out fast.
The call: buy one Leeds defender — Bogle first, Trafford if you need the keeper slot filled. Skip the forwards entirely.
