Ipswich Town FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — Ipswich: one £4.0m defender worth your time, and a lot of noise around him Here's the value question in one line: Ipswich have three £4.0m defenders on the page, our model likes Davis best of the lot by a distance, and not one of them is nailed. That last bit is where the romance dies.
What has not being with FFIQ cost you this season?
One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.
Your name and your FPL team name. That is all it takes, and we will have your answer before you have finished reading this sentence.

The context isn't pretty. Our projections have Ipswich mid-table for attack but with one of the leakiest defences in the league — 19th of 20 — and the fixtures don't do them any favours at either end. Trips to Manchester City and Tottenham sit in the next six, and the home games (Fulham, Forest, Bournemouth) are the kind you hope for a point from, not a shutout. Clean sheets will be rare. So why is Davis leading the table? Because at £4.0m you're not buying clean sheets, you're buying minutes and scraps — he's started five of five, he's on free kicks, and defenders who play every week accumulate. He's the one Ipswich asset priced for his floor rather than a ceiling he doesn't have, and fewer than 1 in 10 managers own him.
Diop is the more-owned option — just over 1 in 10 have him — but our model ranks him below both Davis and O'Shea, and when three centre-halves cost the same money you take the one the numbers prefer, not the one the template drifted into.
Up the other end, Emersonn at £5.5m is the shiny pick: shares penalty duty, has been starting, hardly anyone owns him. But a forward in an attack facing this run, at a club where nobody's minutes are guaranteed? That's a punt, not a plan. Enciso is the same story for less certainty. Clarke is first on pens but has only two starts — that's a bench spot waiting to happen, and I'd rather not fund someone else's rotation.
What changes the call: if Ipswich's team sheets settle and Davis becomes a genuine every-week lock, he's one of the best enablers in the game at the price. If he starts getting hooked or benched, walk away — a £4.0m defender who doesn't play is worth exactly nothing.
The call: buy Davis as your fifth defender and let him fund the expensive end of your squad. Leave the rest of Ipswich alone.
