Haaland Vs Isak: The Better FPL Pick

This is the version of Haaland Vs Isak: The Better FPL Pick from 23 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Haaland or Isak? My numbers say it's not close: Haaland, and it's worth every penny of the £6.5m gap. Over the next six gameweeks I project Haaland for around 45 points — call it seven and a half a week — while Isak comes out at roughly 26. That's not a nuance, it's a chasm. Nineteen projected points over six…

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

The fixtures tell you most of the story. After the opening trip to Anfield — LIV (A), which both of these picks are tangled up in, since they face each other — Haaland gets Ipswich at home, Villa away, Brighton at home, Forest away and Fulham at home. That's a run where he can go massive more weeks than not, and on his day he's the one player in the game who turns a decent gameweek into a 20-pointer.

Isak's road is far rockier: City at home first up, then Brentford away, Brighton, Arsenal at home, Palace away and United. Three of those are genuinely tough, and my numbers reflect it — a fair few blanks mixed in with the returns. The appeal is obvious on paper: £9.1m, only about 2 in 10 own him, so when he does haul you climb fast. If you simply can't fund Haaland, Isak isn't a bad forward — he's just a clearly worse one right now.

The honest caveat on Haaland is the same as always: £15.6m is a monstrous chunk of your budget, and because most of the field owns him, he protects your rank more than he builds it. Skipping him is the true gamble — if he hits a double-figure week (and this fixture run is built for exactly that), 7 in 10 managers sail past you while you stand still.

My call: buy Haaland, restructure elsewhere to afford him if you have to, and make him your default captain from GW2 onwards once the Anfield trip is out of the way. Isak is a hold if you own him and the funds are locked up — but don't buy into that fixture run when this much better an option exists.
