Haaland Vs Isak: The Better FPL Pick
The call — Haaland or Isak? My numbers say it isn't close — I project Haaland for nearly double Isak's points over the next six gameweeks. Pushing 50 points from now to the end of that run, that's Haaland's projection. Isak sits at around 26. Even allowing for the £6.5m gap in price — Haaland at £15.5m, Isak at £9.0m — that's a…

City's run is about as kind as it gets: COV (H), MUN (A), SUN (H), LIV (A), IPS (H), AVL (A). Strip out the Anfield trip and you're looking at a string of games where Haaland should be favourite to score every single week. He's the sort of player who's good for a return most gameweeks and can go absolutely massive on his day — and with home games against Coventry, Sunderland and Ipswich coming, those are exactly the days.
Isak's road is rockier: IPS (A), FUL (H), BOU (A), MCI (H), BRE (A), BHA (H). There's an Ipswich trip in there that looks winnable, but City at home and a couple of awkward away days drag his outlook down. My numbers still see him chipping in — roughly four points a week on average — but that's steady, not spectacular, and steady isn't why you buy a forward.
The honest case for Isak is the price and the crowd. At £9.0m he frees up serious money elsewhere, and with fewer than 2 in 10 managers owning him, any big week moves you up the ranks. Haaland is the opposite: about 7 in 10 have him, so he's protection, not a rank-climber. Owning him mostly stops you bleeding when he inevitably hauls.
But that's exactly the point. When a player this owned has fixtures this good, not having him is the gamble — and it's a bad one. The only real caveat on Haaland is the price tag forcing compromises in your midfield; there's no minutes worry and no fixture worry worth the name.
My pick: Haaland, clearly. If you own neither, he's the buy even at £15.5m. If you own Isak and can fund the swap without a hit spiral, make it. And with Coventry at the Etihad first up, Haaland is my captain too.
