FPL Budget Picks: The Best FWD Under £7.5

This is the version of FPL Budget Picks: The Best FWD Under £7.5 from 25 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Budget forwards, £7.5m and under: who's actually worth the money Thirty forwards qualify at £7.5m or under this week, and the one our model likes best — Calvert-Lewin at £6.0m — walks straight into Arsenal away. That's the budget bracket in a nutshell: nothing comes clean.

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

Your name and your FPL team name. That is all it takes, and we will have your answer before you have finished reading this sentence.

No FPL password, ever. We only read what FPL already publishes.

Down the list, one line each, in our order of preference:

Calvert-Lewin (LEE, £6.0m) — proven, projected around 20 points over the next six, but the fixtures are genuinely nasty starting at the Emirates. About 1 in 4 own him already, so he's the template pick despite the run.

Wissa (NEW, £6.2m) — the numbers pick. Best projection in the bracket at around 26 points over six, a lovely run starting at Coventry, and only about 2 in 10 own him.

Brobbey (SUN, £5.7m) — decent projection (~22), Brighton at home first, but a rough run after that. Barely 1 in 20 own him.

Barry (EVE, £5.6m) — similar story, ~22 points projected, tough fixtures, Hull away next. Under 1 in 10.

Emersonn (IPS, £5.5m) — unproven at this level, hard fixtures. The projection's fine; my faith isn't.

Evanilson (BOU, £6.0m) — proven, average fixtures, Chelsea away first. Serviceable, nothing more.

Gonzalo, McBurnie, N.Jackson — all unproven starters facing tough runs. At this price, minutes are the entire game, and I can't hand you a guarantee on any of them.

Marmoush (TOT, £7.0m) and Solanke (£5.8m) — Spurs at Old Trafford next, and the projections (13-ish each) tell you two forwards are fighting over one productive slot. Avoid both until that sorts itself out.

Delap (NFO, £5.6m) — proven but projecting just 12 over six. Pass.

The honest read: nobody in this bracket comes stamped as a nailed starter yet, so watch the first teamsheets before you burn a transfer. But here's the thing that nags at me — Wissa projects five points clear of Calvert-Lewin, costs 20p more, and gets Coventry while DCL gets Arsenal. Our model still ranks Calvert-Lewin top, which tells you it trusts him to hold his slot in that Leeds attack more than anything Newcastle-shaped.

The call: Calvert-Lewin is the pick if you want the safe, proven route — he's the bracket's most reliable body. But if your £6.0m can stretch to £6.2m, Wissa is the best alternative and, frankly, the one I'd buy: kinder fixtures, bigger projection, fewer owners. Take the extra 20p out of your bench keeper and get it done.
