FPL Budget Picks: The Best FWD Under £7.5

This is the version of FPL Budget Picks: The Best FWD Under £7.5 from 17 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Budget forwards: who's actually worth your £6m? The sharpest number in this bracket is Wissa's: our model has him down for roughly 36 points over the next six gameweeks — call it six a week from a £6.2m forward. Nobody else under £7.5m gets close.

That's not romance talking. Wissa starts, he's proven at this level, and Newcastle's run is about as kind as fixtures get, opening with Hull at St James' Park. Nearly 2 in 10 managers already have him, so he's not a secret — but at this price you don't need secrets, you need points. He can go big on a good week and he clears a respectable score most weeks either way.

The rest of the bracket, one line each, in the order we rate them:

Calvert-Lewin (LEE, £6.0m) — starts every week, average fixtures, Crystal Palace at Elland Road next. Around five a week projected. About 2 in 10 own him. The best alternative if you want to save £0.2m.

Barry (EVE, £5.6m) — starts, but the fixtures are tough after Ipswich at home. Hardly anyone owns him (~1 in 10). Fine, not thrilling.

Evanilson (BOU, £6.0m) — nice run of fixtures overall, though it opens with Liverpool at the Vitality. Starts. Barely owned.

Emersonn (IPS, £5.5m) — unproven at this level with a tough run. Cheap enabler at best.

Brobbey (SUN, £5.8m) — starts, but City away next and a brutal run after. Pass.

McBurnie (HUL, £5.5m) — Newcastle away, unproven, very tough fixtures. No.

Gonzalo (FUL, £6.0m) — unproven, ugly run starting with United at Craven Cottage.

Marmoush (TOT, £7.0m) — the priciest name here for the thinnest return. Very tough fixtures. Avoid.

Solanke (TOT, £5.8m) — same fixture problem, fewer projected points than half the £5.5m crowd.

Delap (NFO, £5.5m) and N.Jackson (AVL, £6.5m) — starters, but the projections say bench fodder that costs real money.

There are 28 forwards who qualify at this price; only two are worth building around. The gap from Wissa to third place is a chasm.

The call: buy Wissa. He's the rare cheap forward where you're not paying for hope — he starts, he scores, and the fixtures do the rest. If the £0.2m genuinely matters to your build, Calvert-Lewin is the honest fallback. Everyone else here is either an enabler or a mistake.
