Budget forwards under £7.5m: who's actually worth your money

Wissa at £6.2m is projected for roughly 32 points over the next six gameweeks — the best number in this entire bracket, and he gets there with a favourable run starting at Leeds. He starts every week for Newcastle, he's proven at this level, and about 2 in 10 managers already have him. That's the headline. Everything else here is measured against it.

Here's the bracket, in our order of preference:

Wissa (NEW, £6.2m) — starts, proven, kind fixtures, best points in the band. The value pick and it isn't close.

Calvert-Lewin (LEE, £6.0m) — starts, good for around 24 points over six, but the fixtures are tough and it begins with Newcastle at home. About 2 in 10 own him already, so no edge there either.

Barry (EVE, £5.6m) — the quiet one. Nearly matches Calvert-Lewin's points at £5.6m, hardly anyone has him (~1 in 10), and he's nailed. Fixtures are tough, starting at Tottenham, but that price is doing real work.

Havertz (ARS, £7.5m) — starts, but a very tough run and only ~18 points projected. You're paying £7.5m for third-forward output. Pass.

Evanilson (BOU, £6.0m) — starts, average fixtures, ~20 points. Fine, unspectacular, ~3 in 100 own him.

Brobbey (SUN, £5.9m) — starts, but Arsenal first up and a brutal run. No.

McBurnie (HUL, £5.5m) — starts, unproven at this level, Chelsea away next, horrible fixtures. Bench fodder that plays, nothing more.

Emersonn (IPS, £5.5m) — sneaky ~21 points projected at the bottom price, but unproven and the fixtures are tough. Watchlist.

Gonzalo (FUL, £6.0m) — starts, unproven, Liverpool away next. No thanks.

Awoniyi (COV, £5.5m) — starts, but a very tough run. Only if you need a body.

Marmoush (TOT, £7.0m) — proven, starts, and still only projected ~12 points over six on a very tough run. £7.0m for that is how budgets die.

N.Jackson (AVL, £6.5m) — unproven in that shirt, very tough fixtures, ~14 points. Pass.

The dry truth of this bracket: most of it is £5.5m–£6.0m players who start but face walls of hard fixtures. The two that combine minutes, price and a reason to exist are at the top.

The call: Wissa is the buy — £6.2m, nailed, best fixtures and best points in the band. If you're squeezing tighter, Barry at £5.6m is the alternative: nearly the same output as Calvert-Lewin, 40p cheaper, and barely anyone owns him. Buy Wissa; Barry if the budget says so.
