Budget Forwards Under £7.5m: Who's Actually Worth Your Money

The sharpest thing our numbers say this week: Wissa at £6.1m projects for around 34 points over the next six gameweeks — comfortably clear of every other cheap forward on the board. That's not a fluke of one good fixture. Newcastle have a very kind run coming, starting with Bournemouth at home, and Wissa starts every week. At this price bracket, that last bit is the whole game.

About 1 in 10 managers have him. That won't last.

The quick tour of the rest — price, minutes, fixtures, in our order of preference:

Calvert-Lewin (LEE, £6.0m) — starts, decent enough for 24-ish points over six, but Leeds' run is tough, opening at Brighton. He's the template pick (~2.5 in 10 own him) and the least exciting good option here.

Barry (EVE, £5.5m) — starts, projects around 25 points despite a tough run beginning with Manchester United at home. At £5.5m that's real value, and hardly anyone owns him (~0.5 in 10).

Igor Jesus (NFO, £5.9m) — starts, very kind fixtures, Spurs at home first up. A steady 21–22 points over six. Quietly sensible.

Havertz (ARS, £7.5m) — starts, but tough fixtures and only ~16 projected points. You're paying £1.4m more than Wissa for less. No.

Gonzalo (FUL, £6.0m) — starts, but unproven at this level and a very tough run. Pass.

Brobbey (SUN, £5.9m) and Evanilson (BOU, £6.0m) — both start, both stuck with grim fixtures. Fine bench bodies, not buys.

Emersonn (IPS, £5.5m) — the interesting one. Starts, favourable run after Liverpool at home, projects a surprising 23–24 points, and nobody owns him (~0.2 in 10). Unproven, so the risk of a quiet month is real — but at £5.5m with guaranteed minutes, he's the best pure enabler here.

McBurnie, Awoniyi, Marmoush — all starting, all facing horrible runs. Marmoush at £7.0m for 11 projected points is the worst value in the bracket.

The call: Wissa is the buy — best points, best fixtures, nailed minutes, all for £6.1m. If you need to go cheaper, Barry at £5.5m is the alternative: he starts, he scores despite the fixtures, and he frees up £600k for the other end of your squad. Buy Wissa; Barry if the budget's tight.
