Budget Forwards Under £7.5m: Who's Actually Worth Your Money

Thirty-seven forwards qualify at £7.5m or under. Most of them will cost you points. One of them — Wissa at £6.1m — is projected for nearly 33 points over the next six weeks, and only about 1 in 10 managers have noticed.

That's the headline, and it's not close. Wissa starts for Newcastle, the fixtures are about as kind as they get, and it kicks off with BOU (H). At this price, a proven starter with that run is the whole point of the budget bracket. Usually good for a return most weeks, and he can go big when the game opens up.

The rest, in order of how much we'd trust them:

Calvert-Lewin (LEE, £6.0m) — starts, proven, but the fixtures are rough starting with BHA (A). Nearly 3 in 10 own him already, so you're paying template price for a tough run.

Barry (EVE, £5.5m) — cheapest reliable starter on this list, projects almost level with Calvert-Lewin at half a million less. MUN (H) next, tough run overall, but at £5.5m he plays every week and that's what the money buys.

Havertz (ARS, £7.5m) — starts, but the priciest name here for the weakest return per pound. CHE (H) then a hard run. Pass.

Igor Jesus (NFO, £6.0m) — the quiet one. Starts, proven, a very kind run beginning TOT (H), and barely anyone owns him — about 1 in 3 of 10, frankly, it's 3.4%... call it hardly anyone. Genuine value if you want a road less travelled.

Brobbey (SUN, £6.0m), Gonzalo (FUL, £6.0m), Evanilson (BOU, £6.0m) — all start, all staring at tough-to-brutal fixtures. Gonzalo hasn't proven he does this at Premier League level yet either.

McBurnie, Emersonn, Nketiah, Awoniyi (£5.5m each) — the true bargain bin. All expected to start, which matters, but McBurnie and Awoniyi face very tough runs, and Emersonn's "favourable run" opens with LIV (H), which is a strange definition of favourable. Nketiah is proven and owned by roughly nobody if the £5.5m slot is a real slot in your team rather than a bench body.

The call: Wissa is the pick and it isn't a debate — best projection in the bracket, kindest fixtures, starts every week, still under the radar. If you can't stretch to £6.1m or want a second cheap forward, Calvert-Lewin is the sensible alternative — though Igor Jesus at the same price with better fixtures is the one I'd actually take. Buy Wissa.
