Everton FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Everton FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 6 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — EVERTON: WHERE'S THE VALUE — AND IS ANYONE ACTUALLY NAILED? The most telling thing on this page: our model's favourite Everton asset over the next six isn't a forward or a winger — it's James Tarkowski, a £6.0m centre-half, at a club whose attack we rank a plain mid-table 12th. That tells you where the value sits. It's at the…

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

The fixture list explains the caution. Ipswich at home and Hull away are the games you buy Everton players for. The other four — Tottenham away, Chelsea at home, then trips to Arsenal and Newcastle — are the games you bench them for. That's a tough run for goals and only an average one for clean sheets, from a side we rank 11th for keeping the ball out. Middling defence, middling attack, fixtures that lean nasty. You can see why nobody here projects like a must-have.

Now the bit that actually decides it for me: not one Everton player currently grades as nailed. Two starts apiece across the board — the table tells you the sample, and the sample tells you nothing is settled. Tarkowski should be the most secure of the lot, and about 1 in 10 managers already agree, but "should be" is doing work I don't like at £6.0m when Mykolenko sits at £4.5m doing a similar job for £1.5m less if he holds his spot.

Up the other end, Thierno Barry is the interesting one — a £5.6m forward on penalties, owned by hardly anyone. Penalties are the cheapest points in the game and they don't rotate. If his starts firm up, he's a proper budget enabler. Dewsbury-Hall at £6.5m is priced like a starter without yet proving he is one, which is exactly the kind of purchase I exist to talk you out of.

The romance here is Barry's pens. The reality is TOT (A), CHE (H), ARS (A), NEW (A) and a squad where nobody's minutes are certain yet.

The call: leave Everton alone this week. If the lineups settle over the next round or two, Tarkowski or Barry become tidy buys for the Ipswich and Hull games. Until someone strings three starts together, your money works harder elsewhere. Hold your transfers.
