Everton FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Everton FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 14 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Everton's value is all at the back — and it's cheap Here's the sharpest thing our model says about Everton: they're a top-eight defence bolted onto an attack that ranks 14th in the league. That's not a club you buy for goals. That's a club you buy for the boring stuff — clean sheets, blocks, minutes — and the good…

Tarkowski at £6.1m is the headline, and he tops our list for a reason. He starts every week, he never gets subbed off on 60, and our projection has him around 27 points over the next six — a solid haul most weeks with the odd goal-line block bonus thrown in. Just over 1 in 10 managers own him, so he's hardly a template pick yet. If £6.1m is rich for your third defender, Mykolenko at £4.5m does the same clean-sheet job for £1.6m less — barely anyone has him (about 1 in 4 of a 10, frankly nobody) and he's nailed. That's the enabler that funds a premium elsewhere.

Now the honest bit. The clean-sheet run is only average, and you can see why: IPS (H) and HUL (A) are lovely, then CHE (H), ARS (A) and NEW (A) arrive in a row before COV (H) rescues things. You're buying for gameweeks one, two and six, and hoping for scraps in between.

The attack? The fixtures are tough and the team ranks mid-table for goals, which caps everyone. Dewsbury-Hall at £6.5m is the pick of the midfielders — on corners, nailed, barely owned — but he's projected roughly the same as Tarkowski while costing more and defending less. Barry has penalties, which keeps his £5.6m interesting, but a 14th-ranked attack against Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle isn't where I'd chase goals. Pickford at £5.5m is a fine keeper, but a keeper is a keeper.

The call: buy Tarkowski if the budget's there, Mykolenko if it isn't. Get in before Ipswich and Hull, ride the two home bankers, and don't be surprised if you bench them through the ugly middle stretch. Leave the Everton attack to the romantics.
