Bournemouth FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — Bournemouth: buy the back, not the front Here's the shape of it: our model rates Bournemouth's defence the fifth meanest in the league, while the attack sits mid-table at 13th — and the fixtures make that gap wider, because the forwards face a tough run while the clean-sheet picture is merely average. Whatever value exists here, it lives at the…

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

The table gives you the numbers; here's what it can't tell you. The defensive trio — Truffert, Hill, Silva — plus Petrović in goal are all starting, all nailed, and all owned by basically nobody (hardly a manager in 10 has any of them). Truffert tops our list and he's the one I'd take: a full-back who plays every minute, projected for a steady 3–4 points a week over the next six, with the odd attacking return to bump a good week higher. Petrović at £4.5m is the classic enabler — a starting keeper behind a top-five defence at the cheapest sensible price, which is exactly the sort of purchase that pays for a premium elsewhere.
The attack? Tavernier is the only one I'd glance at — he's on corners, free kicks and stands third for penalties, so he doesn't need Bournemouth to play well to score points, just to win a set piece. But note who's ahead of him on pens: Kroupi Jr and Kluivert, neither of whom makes our list of the players actually worth owning right now. Evanilson sits bottom of the pile despite being the striker, which tells you everything about that attacking run.
And it is a rough run for goals: NEW (A), then LIV (H) and CHE (A) inside the next four. The clean-sheet argument survives that better than the goal argument does — BRE (H), SUN (H) and even the away days are winnable shutouts for a back line this organised — but nobody should pretend Anfield-adjacent weeks won't bring a blank or two. That's the honest cost of the price tag.
What changes the call? A dropped Truffert or a leaky first month. Neither is the base case — he's started both games and the defence has earned its ranking.
The call: buy Truffert. Nailed, cheap enough, best-projected defender at the club, and owned by almost no one. If your budget's tighter still, Petrović does the same job for a pound less. Leave the Bournemouth attack for someone more romantic.
