The call — Arsenal: the money's at the back, and it usually is Here's the quiet truth about Arsenal right now: our model ranks them among the meanest four defences in the league, and the fixtures are about to do them a favour. Leeds at the Emirates, Forest away, Everton at home, Hull at home — four of the next six are the…

Calafiori tops our list and he's the pick. Nailed, started every game so far, and priced like a defender rather than the attacking outlet he actually is. Half the game already owns him, which tells you this isn't a secret — it's just correct. Raya is the keeper version of the same argument: if you believe the clean-sheet run, he's the cheapest way to back it twice.

Gabriel is the premium alternative, but at £8.0m you're paying attacking-defender money for a man whose job is mostly the same clean sheet Calafiori delivers for over two million less. That's a price for his ceiling, not his floor. Hold the change.

Now the fine print on the cheap end, because this is where people get burned. Konsa looks like the enabler at £4.6m — but he's started three of five, not five of five. A cheap defender who sits on the bench is worth precisely nothing. And Timber has one start all season; don't let the name fool you. If you need the £4.6m route, watch his next team sheet before committing.

In midfield, Saka is the one genuine attacking buy — on penalties, free kicks and corners, nailed, and hardly anyone owns him (barely more than 1 in 10). He's usually good for around five a week with the big haul always in him, and Anfield aside, home games against Leeds, Everton and Hull are perfectly decent. Ødegaard is cheaper and solid but ranks below him for a reason.

The call: buy Calafiori now, Raya if you need a keeper, and Saka if you've got the £9.5m and want the differential. Leave Gabriel's price tag and Konsa's part-time minutes alone.
