Arsenal FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Arsenal FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 28 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — ARSENAL: BUY THE BACK, NOT THE FRONT Arsenal have one of the league's meanest defences — top four in our prediction — and the fixture list has just handed them Leeds, Everton and Hull at the Emirates in the next six. That's about as kind a clean-sheet run as you'll get. The attack, oddly, is the harder sell: they rank…

Which is why Calafiori tops our list, not Saka. He's the cheapest route into that defence bar the bargain bin, half the game already owns him — about 5 in 10 — and he's started every week that matters. A defender who plays every minute behind a back line this stingy is exactly what a budget slot is for. Raya is the same story in gloves: if you're in the market for a keeper, he's a set-and-forget.

The trap on this page is Konsa. £4.6m looks like the classic enabler price, but he's started three of five — and a cheap defender who watches from the bench is worth precisely nothing. Calafiori costs £1.2m more and actually plays. Pay it.

Up front, the honest read: Saka is the best attacker Arsenal own — he's on penalties, free-kicks and corners, and he can go massive on his day — but £9.5m is a price built for his big weeks, and the big weeks run through Anfield and St James' Park in this stretch. Ødegaard at £6.8m is decent value if you must have an Arsenal midfielder, but nobody in this attack is a must right now. Gabriel gives you the same clean sheets as Calafiori with goal threat on top, but £8.0m for a defender is premium money, and premium money should usually be buying goals.

One thing that changes the call: none of these players is fully nailed week to week. Arteta rotates, and Arsenal's squad is deep enough that even the good ones get the odd breather. That's the tax on everything above.

The call: buy into Arsenal through Calafiori — cheap, starting, behind the right defence at the right time. Raya if you need a keeper. Hold off the attackers until the fixtures turn; Liverpool and Newcastle away is no place to be spending £9.5m on hope.
