Tottenham Hotspur FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Tottenham Hotspur FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 4 October 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

Spurs: buy the back, ignore the front

Here's an odd one: our model ranks Spurs' attack second-worst in the league — 19th of 20 — and their defence a tidy eighth. Same club, two different businesses. One of them is worth your money.

It's not the one with the shiny names. Marmoush at £7.0m is priced like a goal threat, but he's leading the line for an attack that barely functions, and the fixtures make it worse — Manchester United and Chelsea away in the first three is a brutal welcome for a forward in a team that doesn't create much. Sávio has only started three of five, which is my least favourite kind of midfielder: one who costs real money and might not be on the pitch. Hardly anyone owns either, and on this evidence hardly anyone should.

The defence is where a sensible manager shops. The run turns genuinely kind for clean sheets — Coventry, Crystal Palace and Ipswich all come to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the next six, and even Leeds away is the sort of trip the back line can survive. Kinsky at £4.5m is the standout: nailed, started every game, and already owned by nearly 2 in 10 managers for good reason — he's a starting keeper behind a top-eight defence at the cheapest sensible price. Van de Ven and Robertson sit just behind him, both nailed, both projected around 18 points over the six, and Robertson at £4.4m is proper enabler territory — a defender who starts every week for less than some bench fodder. Barely anyone owns either, which won't last if the home clean sheets land.

The honest caveat: a defence ranked eighth isn't a fortress, and the trips to Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge will likely blank. You're buying the three home games, not the lot. Senesi, for what it's worth, isn't starting — one start in five — so cross him off whatever his price suggests.

The call: buy Kinsky or Robertson now — Kinsky if you need a keeper, Robertson if you need a fifth defender who actually plays. Van de Ven if you've £5.0m to spend on the same clean sheets with a bit more about him. And leave the attack alone entirely until the fixtures — and the output — say otherwise.
