Manchester City FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — Manchester City: the value is at the wrong end — and that's fine Five of City's next six are the kind of fixtures you draft a season around: BOU (H), CRY (A), COV (H), MUN (A), SUN (H) — then Anfield arrives in GW6 to ruin everyone's mood. Our model has them as the fourth-sharpest attack in the league and…
What has not being with FFIQ cost you this season?

Haaland first, because he's the question everyone asks. £15.5m, nailed, on penalties, and about 7 in 10 managers already own him. He's the top-ranked City asset over this run and comfortably the best captain option for Bournemouth at home this week. But you don't need me for that. He's not a buy so much as an entry fee — if you don't own him through this stretch, you're playing catch-up every Saturday.
The actual decision on this page is the defence. Our model likes Guéhi best of the back line — £6.0m, nailed, and only about 2 in 10 own him — with Gvardiol half a million cheaper and owned by roughly 1 in 10. Both are clean-sheet plays through a run where the clean sheets should genuinely come. Rúben at £5.5m is the same shirt for basically zero ownership if you want to be clever about it, though history says being clever about City defenders is how people end up benching the one who scores.
In midfield the model prefers Semenyo to Foden, and I'd respect that — Semenyo's dearer at £8.5m but he's third in the penalty queue and the more reliable route into City's attack. Foden at £7.0m is the romantic's pick: on free kicks and corners, owned by almost nobody, and priced for what he might do rather than what he reliably does. That's a punt, not a plan.
The honest caveat: this is City, and even "nailed" here means nailed until it isn't. Doubling up on the defence also caps you — two clean-sheet assets blank together when they concede. And that GW6 trip to Liverpool is real.
The call: if Haaland's already in your side, the move is buy Guéhi at £6.0m. Cheapest reliable way into the meanest defence with the kindest run. Do it before the Bournemouth game, not after.
