Liverpool FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Liverpool FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 26 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Nobody at Liverpool is nailed. Not one player. The best anyone in red can offer right now is four starts, and that single fact should shape how you spend every pound here. Now the interesting bit: our model rates this attack mid-table — 11th — and the fixture run does it no favours. City at Anfield, Arsenal, United, all in…

Szoboszlai is the one attacker who earns his slot, and it's not romance — it's set pieces. Penalties, free kicks, corners: everything dead goes through him, which is the closest thing to a floor an attacking player can have when clean goals are scarce. He's already template though — about 3 in 10 have him — so you're buying safety, not a head start. Isak carries the biggest numbers on the page but he's the definition of paying for the ceiling: a striker's price into City, Arsenal and United, with the same four-starts question as everyone else. Wirtz, same story, cheaper.

The pick I'd actually make is Alisson. He's priced like a backup keeper, projected like a starter, and hardly anyone owns him — fewer than 1 in 20. A fifth-ranked defence on a kind clean-sheet run at that price is exactly what funds the expensive stuff elsewhere in your squad. Virgil is the upgrade version if you want the bonus-point magnet; Jacquet is the genuinely cheap route in and he's starting.

The honest caveat is the one we opened with: rotation. Four starts isn't five, and if any of these names slips from the XI the maths collapses. Watch the first team sheet after you buy.

But the call is clear. Skip the Liverpool attack until the fixtures soften. Buy the defence — Alisson first, Virgil if the budget stretches.
