Coventry City FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

So why are we writing about them at all? Two words: four-point-oh.

Micah Thomas and Milan van Ewijk are both £4.0m defenders, and our model ranks Thomas as the pick of the pair despite van Ewijk being the more owned (about 1 in 10 have the Dutchman, fewer have Thomas). Neither is going to score you real points — we're projecting them under 10 points across the whole six-game stretch, which is roughly two a week. But that's not the job. The job is filling your fifth defender slot for the minimum price while your money does the actual work elsewhere. If Thomas starts, he's doing that job. Clean sheets against Arsenal and City? Don't be silly. Appearance points and a prayer against Hull is the honest pitch.

Rushworth at £4.5m is a similar story — hardly anyone owns him (about 1 in 10... generously), and a keeper behind a leaky defence facing this run will face plenty of shots. Save points are real, but so are goals conceded. There are calmer £4.5m keepers behind better back lines. Pass.

The forwards, Simms and Thomas-Asante at £5.0m apiece, are owned by basically nobody, and there's a reason. A blunt attack visiting the Emirates and the Etihad in the first three weeks is not where your budget forward money goes. Both project a couple of points a week. You can do the same or better elsewhere without the fixture pain.

The call: Thomas at £4.0m as a pure bench body if you're squeezing every last pound out of your squad build — nothing more ambitious than that. Everyone else in sky blue is an avoid until the fixtures turn human. Spend your actual money somewhere goals live.
