Ipswich Town FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — Ipswich: four £4.0m defenders, all starting — and one of them actually earns his keep Here's a sentence you don't get to write often: Ipswich have four defenders at the very bottom price bracket, and every single one of them is nailed. Davis, O'Shea, Diop, Greaves — all four have started all four games. In a season where half the…

Now the cold water. This is one of the league's leakiest defences — bottom-three territory — and the run coming up won't fix it: Everton away, Manchester City away, Bournemouth at home. Fulham, Forest and Hull are the winnable-looking ones, and even those aren't fixtures you'd bet the mortgage on for a shutout. So nobody's buying an Ipswich defender for clean sheets. You're buying minutes, appearance points, and the odd bonus when things go right.
Through whom? Davis, and it's not close. He's the one our model likes most of the four — good for roughly four points a week over the next six, which at £4.0m is proper value — and he's on free kicks, which gives him a route to the occasional something extra that O'Shea and Greaves simply don't have. The mild irony is that Diop is the one managers have actually bought — about 1 in 7 own him — while Davis sits at fewer than 1 in 15 and projects meaningfully better. The crowd's picked the wrong £4.0m Ipswich defender. Classic.
The attack? Leave it alone. Mid-table for threat, tough fixtures, and the interesting names — Enciso, Fatawu at £5.5m — project fine for the price but nowhere near enough to justify a slot when the same money buys into teams that actually score. If you want anything from this club going forward, it isn't a midfielder.
The honest caveat: a £4.0m defender in a bottom-three defence will blank plenty. City away is a write-off. What you're paying for is certainty of minutes to fund a premium elsewhere — and Davis delivers that better than any £4.0m option with this kind of security.
The call: buy Davis as your set-and-forget enabler, skip the rest of the squad, and spend the savings up front where the points live.
