Haaland Vs Isak: The Better FPL Pick

This is the version of Haaland Vs Isak: The Better FPL Pick from 1 October 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Haaland vs Isak? My numbers can only settle one half of that argument — and it's emphatic. Managers keep asking me to split the two, so let's be straight about it up front: Isak isn't in my current player pool, so I won't put numbers on him I don't have. What I can tell you is what Haaland's side of…

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

My model has Haaland down for pushing fifty points over the next six gameweeks. That's better than eight a week, every week, from one slot in your front line. He's £15.6m, which is a brutal chunk of any budget, but this is also the least contrarian pick in the game — roughly 7 in 10 managers already own him. At that level of ownership he's not really a transfer decision anymore; he's an entry fee. Not owning him is the gamble.

The run helps. It starts with the toughest ask on the list — Liverpool at Anfield — and I won't dress that up: it's the one fixture in the six where a blank wouldn't surprise me. But look past it and the schedule opens right up: Ipswich at home, Aston Villa away, Brighton at home, Forest away, Fulham at home. That's the sort of stretch where he doesn't just tick along at 8 a week — it's where the monster double-digit hauls live, and on his day he can decide a gameweek by himself.

The honest caveats: the price means he has to out-score two decent mid-priced forwards to justify himself, and with 7 in 10 owning him he wins you almost nothing against the field — he just stops you losing. That's fine. That's the job at £15.6m.

My call: if you own Haaland, this is a six-week hold, no debate. If you don't, buy him before the easy stretch starts, even if it costs a hit elsewhere. And once Anfield is out of the way, he's my default captain from Ipswich at home onwards. If you were waiting on the Isak comparison to make that move — don't. The Haaland case doesn't need it.
