Groß Vs Schade: The Better FPL Pick
The call — Groß vs Schade: this one isn't close My numbers make Pascal Groß one of the best midfield buys on the board right now — and Kevin Schade, at 40p more, projects at barely half his total over the next six gameweeks. If you're weighing these two up, stop weighing.
What has not being with FFIQ cost you this season?
One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for five gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.
Your name and your FPL team name. That is all it takes, and we will have your answer before you have finished reading this sentence.

Start with the fixtures, because they tell most of the story. Brighton's run is a very kind one: Sunderland away, Palace at home, then Brentford at home and Hull away to finish. Yes, there are trips to Anfield and the Etihad wedged in the middle — that's the honest caveat — but four of the six are exactly the kind of games Groß feasts on. Brentford, by contrast, face a genuinely tough stretch: Villa away, Liverpool at home, Forest, then Brighton away. Schade is running uphill for six weeks.
The gap in my projections is stark. Groß comes out at just over fifty points across the next six — averaging close to nine a game, which is captaincy-adjacent territory from a £5.8m midfielder. Schade projects at under thirty over the same stretch, closer to a middling 4-5 a week, and he costs £6.2m. You'd be paying more for roughly half the return.
Ownership tells you the market is already moving on Groß — about 1 in 4 managers have him — so he's not a secret, and every week you wait is a week the template pulls further ahead of you. Schade is much less owned, fewer than 1 in 10, and I understand the appeal of zigging where others zag. But a low-owned player only pays off if the points actually arrive, and my numbers say they won't in this window. There's also the simpler point: a £5.8m price tag doing near-premium work frees up budget everywhere else in your midfield.
The other side, honestly stated: Groß's run includes two of the hardest away days in the game, so don't expect six straight hauls — expect the damage to be done against Sunderland, Palace, Brentford and Hull. That's still four very winnable weeks out of six.
My call is simple: buy Groß. If you own Schade, he's a sell — move the money into Brighton's engine room before the Sunderland trip, and don't look back.
