FPL Budget Picks: The Best MID Under £6.5

This is the version of FPL Budget Picks: The Best MID Under £6.5 from 13 September 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Budget mids under £6.5m: the ones who actually play The best number in this whole price bracket belongs to a 34-year-old who never gets subbed off. Pascal Groß, £5.6m, projects around 45 points over the next six — comfortably clear of anyone else under £6.5m — and Brighton's fixtures are about as kind as they come, starting with Arsenal at…

The rest of the shortlist, one honest line each:

Tavernier (BOU, £6.0m) — starts every week, favourable fixtures, roughly 35 points projected. Liverpool at home first is the ugly one; it gets better after. Hardly owned, ~4 in 10... no, ~0.4 in 10. Genuinely under the radar.

Diego Gomez (BHA, £5.0m) — the value play of the season so far. Starts, same lovely Brighton run as Groß, projects 33 points at five million. Only about half a manager in 10 has him.

Elanga (NEW, £6.2m) — nailed, very kind fixtures, Hull at home next. Solid 28-point shout, ~1 in 10 own him.

Scott (BOU, £6.1m) — starts, decent run, but Tavernier is the Bournemouth pick and costs less. Don't double up the wrong way round.

Dewsbury-Hall (EVE, £6.5m) — plays every week but the fixtures are tough after Ipswich at home. Top of the price band, bottom of the appeal.

Barnes (NEW, £6.0m) and Schade (BRE, £6.0m) — both start, both fine, both a notch below the names above.

Xhaka and Le Fée (SUN) — reliable minutes, brutal fixtures. Man City away next. Pass.

Stach (LEE) and Anderson (MCI) — Stach's run is tough; Anderson at £6.3m is a lot to pay for a City midfielder who isn't one of the famous ones. Rotation at the Etihad eats picks like this.

Everyone listed here is an expected starter — that's the whole point of this bracket. A £5.0m midfielder who plays 90 beats a £6.5m one who doesn't, every time.

The call: Groß is the buy — best points, best fixtures, never blanks on minutes, and £5.6m funds a premium elsewhere. If you need cheaper still, Diego Gomez at £5.0m is the best enabler in the game right now. Get one of them in this week.
