Chelsea FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Chelsea FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 24 August 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — Chelsea insight: the attack pays, the defence doesn't Sixth-best attack in the league by our projections, and only one genuinely nasty trip — Arsenal away — in the first six. That's the Chelsea pitch in a sentence, and it's why the front end of this team is where your money should go.

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

Your name and your FPL team name. That is all it takes, and we will have your answer before you have finished reading this sentence.

No FPL password, ever. We only read what FPL already publishes.

The fixtures read FUL (A), BHA (H), ARS (A), HUL (H), BRE (A), BOU (H). Nothing glamorous, nothing terrifying. For attackers, that's an average run you can trust. For clean sheets, less so — our model has Chelsea eighth-meanest at the back but rates this a tough stretch for shutouts, which tells you the defence is a maybe, not a plan.

So, the picks. João Pedro at £7.5m is our top-rated Chelsea asset and the one the market already agrees on — about 6 in 10 managers own him. Roughly 25 points over the six is a proper return for the price: a solid haul most weeks, minutes you can bank on, and enough about him to go big at home to Hull or Bournemouth. Not owning him is now the risky position.

Cole Palmer is the interesting one. £9.5m, our projections actually have him fractionally ahead of Pedro over the six — and barely 1 in 10 own him. If you've got the budget and want to be different, he's the swing. But note our model still lists Pedro first: at £2m cheaper for near-identical points, Pedro is simply the better use of the money. Palmer is the luxury version of the same bet.

At the back, Lacroix (£6.0m) and Sánchez (£5.0m, owned by almost nobody) both project respectably — but that clean-sheet outlook is the honest caveat. You'd be buying defenders into a run where shutouts are a coin flip at best. Rogers at £7.5m sits below Palmer in our order for the same slot money, which tells you where the model's affection lies.

The call: buy João Pedro. He's the cheapest route into a top-six attack with a kind run, he starts every week, and he doesn't need a perfect game to pay. Palmer if you're chasing; Pedro if you're sensible. Be sensible.
