Brighton & Hove Albion FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — The value in this Brighton side sits at the back — and at £4.7m, De Cuyper is the cheapest way into one of the meanest defences in the league. Our model has Brighton fourth for keeping the ball out and second for putting it in — a rare double — and the fixtures are about to open up nicely: Leeds…

Which brings us to who to buy, and the answer is the boring one. De Cuyper starts every week, he's on corners, and he's priced like an enabler while doing a proper attacking full-back's job. Our projections have him as the best-value route into this defence over the next six — usually good for 5-6 a week with the odd bigger one when a clean sheet and an assist land together. Just over 1 in 10 managers have caught on. That's my kind of pick: no romance required.
If you want the midfield version, Groß does everything — penalties, free kicks, corners — and he's nailed. Reliable rather than explosive, but reliable is the point. The genuine sneaky one is Diego Gomez at £5.0m: our model actually likes his upside best of the three over six weeks, he's starting, and hardly anyone owns him — well under 1 in 10. Verbruggen at £4.5m is the honest keeper route if you'd rather the cheapest door in.
The caveats, because there always are some. Two games is two games — this defence hasn't been tested by anyone yet, and Arsenal and Liverpool inside the window will do the testing. And a word of warning on Kadıoğlu: cheapest of the lot at £4.4m, but he's the one who hasn't started every week, and a cheap defender who sits on the bench is worth precisely nothing. Wieffer and Dunk are starting; he's the gamble.
The call: buy De Cuyper. He plays, he's cheap, he's on set pieces, and the fixtures do the rest. If you've got a spare midfield slot and the stomach for a punt nobody else is on, Gomez is the add-on — but the defender goes in first.
