Brighton & Hove Albion FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — Brighton: Buy The Bloke Who Takes Everything Our model rates Brighton's attack the best in the league right now, and their defence the second meanest — and then hands them Sunderland away, Palace at home, Brentford at home and Hull away inside the next six. There are two awkward trips wedged in the middle (Anfield and the Etihad back to…
What has not being with FFIQ cost you this season?
One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for five gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

The answer is the least romantic one on the page: Pascal Groß, £5.9m. He takes the penalties. He takes the free kicks. He takes the corners. He starts every week. Our projections have him as comfortably Brighton's best pick over the six — usually good for 7-8 a week with this run, and a genuine shot at something big when a penalty lands in the right game. About 3 in 10 managers already own him, so he's no secret, but at that price you don't need him to be. You need him to play 90 minutes and touch every dead ball, and he does both.
The defensive route is De Cuyper at £5.0m — nailed, on corners himself, and backed by a defence our model ranks second in the league with a very kind run of clean-sheet fixtures. Verbruggen at £4.5m is the same bet a few quid cheaper, and if you want the full enabler special, Boscagli starts every week at £4.5m and is owned by basically nobody.
The honest caveat: those back-to-back trips to Liverpool and City will test everything, and the clean-sheet picks could blank twice in a row through no fault of their own. If you're buying defenders, you're buying them for weeks 1, 2, 5 and 6, not the middle.
One more for the watchlist — Diego Gomez, £5.0m midfielder, nailed, and hardly anyone has him. Our projections like him more than his price suggests. If you need a cheap fifth mid who actually starts, that's the one.
But the call is simple. Groß is the whole Brighton case in one slot: cheap enough to fit anywhere, nailed, on every set piece, pointing at a lovely run. Buy him this week — and if you've got a spare £5.0m in defence, De Cuyper comes with him.
