Tavernier FPL Gameweek 7 Analysis: A Punt For Sunderland At Home?
Short answer — Tavernier at 6.1m is a punt for Sunderland at home in GW7. First, the case against: he's blanked two weeks running — 2 points, then 1 — and Bournemouth as a team are in a rut. But he's got three goals already this season, 32 points on the board, and fewer than one in ten managers own him. At 6.1m…

Team form
The honest bit. Bournemouth haven't won in six — three draws, three defeats — and they let in five at Chelsea last week. Nobody's buying this one on team form, and if that's a dealbreaker for you, fair enough.
Opponent form
Here's the counter. Sunderland have lost three on the bounce — 0-2 to Arsenal, 3-5 at Man City, 0-2 to Brighton — and let in nine goals doing it. A side conceding three a game is exactly what a struggling attack needs to find its feet again.
Who he's up against
Tavernier plays off the left, which puts him up against Sunderland's right-back, Nordi Mukiele. He's had a rough few weeks of his own: Sunderland have let in seven in his last two games. That's the match-up you want for your winger.
The next three and six
I've got him projected on 13.2 over the next three — Sunderland at home, Man Utd away, Leeds at home — and 26.2 over six. Steady rather than spectacular, but for a 6.1m midfielder that's a perfectly decent return, and the schedule after that (Ipswich away, Forest at home, Fulham away) doesn't frighten anyone.
Chance of a haul
This week is the one. About one in nine of double figures against Sunderland — his best shot at a big score in any of the next six gameweeks. If you're bringing him in, this is the week to do it, not after.
History against Sunderland
Two meetings. He set one up in the 1-1 at home in February 2026, and drew a blank in the 3-2 defeat away the previous November. So the last time Sunderland came to the Vitality, he produced.
The verdict stands: he's a punt for Sunderland at home. Bournemouth's form is the risk and I won't dress it up — but a 6.1m midfielder with three goals, owned by fewer than one in ten, facing a defence that's shipped nine in three, is a punt worth taking in GW7.
