Manchester City FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid
The call — FODEN AT £7.0 IS THE CHEAPEST WAY INTO THE LEAGUE'S BEST ATTACK Here's the number that should stop you scrolling: over the next six gameweeks, our model has Phil Foden projected within a point of Erling Haaland. One costs £7.0m. The other costs £15.5m. That's £8.5m of change for essentially the same return, and hardly anyone has noticed — fewer…

The team case is simple. Our model rates City the sharpest attack in the league, and the fixture list is doing them favours: Coventry, Sunderland and Ipswich all come to the Etihad in the next six, and even the away days — United, Liverpool, Villa — are spread out enough that the promoted-side home games carry the run. Their defence sits comfortably in the league's top six too, so the cheap end isn't dead money either — Guéhi at £6.0m is the pick of the backline for clean sheets, and he starts every week, which is the whole point of a defender at that price.
Now, the honest bit. Haaland is priced for his ceiling — on his day he goes massive, he's on penalties, and if you own him he's your captain for Coventry and Sunderland at home without a second thought. Nobody's selling him and nobody should. Foden is priced closer to his floor, and the caveat is real: City carry more attacking bodies than attacking slots, and we're two starts into the season. He's nailed in our book, on free-kicks and corners, but a Guardiola midfield is never a signed contract. Anderson at £6.4m is the sneaky third route in — starting, on corners, owned by barely 1 in 20 — if £7.0m is still too rich.
But the value question answers itself. A £7.0m midfielder projected for roughly 8 points a week, in the best attack in the league, with three home games against promoted sides, owned by almost nobody? Cheap players who actually play are how you afford the expensive ones — and this one might outscore them.
The call: buy Foden now, before the price rises do the maths for everyone else. Haaland owners hold and captain him at home. Guéhi if you want the defensive route.
