FPL Gameweek 3: Injuries & News Update

This is the team news as it stood on this date. The latest FPL team news →

The call — GW3 team news: Mateta out until October, two 50/50s logged on Saturday Jean-Philippe Mateta will not play again before 11 October. Crystal Palace logged the hamstring injury on 28 August. That is roughly six gameweeks. He costs £6.4m and sits in about 3 or 4 of every 100 squads. A striker who cannot play does not belong in yours. Move…

Two flags landed on 30 August.

Joe Rodon, Leeds, £4.5m, is a hamstring doubt at 50% for this round. He is owned by about 3 in 100 managers. A coin-flip on minutes is not a start. If he is in your XI, he comes out. If your bench covers him, he sits there.

Moises Caicedo, Chelsea, £5.4m, carries an unspecified problem and is rated 75% to play. Owned by about 2 in 100. The club has not ruled him out. At 75% he is a hold, not a sale. Do not burn a transfer on a player likely to feature.

Jérémy Doku's calf injury, logged 18 August, has a return date of 5 September. That is after this deadline. He costs £7.4m and about 1 in 10 own him. He blanks this week by default. Bench him if you can. If you cannot, he is a hold, not a sell — the return date is days away, and Manchester City have said nothing to contradict it.

Two players have no return date at all. Eli Kroupi Jr of Bournemouth (foot, logged 29 July, £7.4m, owned by 3 in 1,000) and Hugo Ekitiké of Liverpool (Achilles, logged 23 July, £7.5m, owned by 1 in 1,000). An unknown return date is dead money at £7.4m and £7.5m. Neither belongs in a squad. Anyone still holding either has been carrying a blank since the season started.

The calls, in order:

Sell: Mateta — out until 11 October. Kroupi Jr and Ekitiké — no return date on file.

Bench: Rodon — 50% is a flag, and a flagged player sits. Doku — back 5 September, which misses this round; keep him, do not start him.

Hold and start if he starts: Caicedo — 75% is the strongest number on this list. He is the only name here you leave alone.
