FPL Gameweek 2: Injuries & News Update
This is the team news as it stood on this date. The latest FPL team news →
The call — GW2 team news: ten flags, three ruled out Burn is out. Newcastle logged an ankle injury on 23 August. Expected back 14 September. He misses GW2 and likely GW3 and GW4. Price £5.0m, owned by about 1 in 4 of... no — owned by roughly 1 in 40 managers. He cannot score points from the treatment room. Move him on.
Doku is out. Calf injury, logged 18 August. Expected back 5 September. That is two gameweeks minimum. £7.5m, held by about 1 in 50. Sell or bench with a plan to sell.
Kroupi.Jr (BOU, £7.5m) and Ekitiké (LIV, £7.5m) remain out with no return date — foot and Achilles respectively. Neither should be in a squad. If you still hold either, that ends now.
The doubtful list is longer.
Pedro Porro carries the most owners — about 3 in 20 have the £5.5m Spurs defender. The club lists lack of match fitness, 75% chance of playing, logged 21 August. At 75%, he can stay in your XI, but hold a bench cover who starts.
Van de Ven is the harder case. 50% chance, injury unspecified, logged 21 August. A coin flip is not a start. Bench him. If you have no cover, that is a squad-building fault, not a reason to gamble.
Anderson (MCI, £6.5m, about 3 in 40 own him) — knock, 75%. Starts if you have him. Same for Sarr (CRY, £6.5m, groin, 75%), Bruno G. (ARS, £7.0m, thigh, 75%) and Kadıoğlu (BHA, £4.5m, 75%). A 75% flag is a start with bench insurance, not a sale. None of these prices justify a transfer hit to replace a player who will probably play.
The calls, in order:
- Sell: Burn, Doku, Kroupi.Jr, Ekitiké. All four are out. Points are impossible.
- Bench: Van de Ven. 50% is not a starter's number.
- Start: Pedro Porro, Anderson, Sarr, Bruno G., Kadıoğlu. All 75%. The clubs expect them to play. Keep bench cover behind each.
No hits for any of the doubtful five. Hits only to remove the four who are out, and only if your bench cannot cover the blank.
