FPL Budget Picks: The Best MID Under £9.0
The call — Mids under £9.0m: who's actually worth the money Sixty-eight midfielders come in under £9.0m this week, and the best of the lot costs £5.9m. That's not a typo. Groß, Brighton's metronome, projects for roughly 50 points over the next six — nearly 15 clear of anyone else in this bracket — and he's priced like a bench-filler. He starts every…

The rest, quickly, in order of preference:
Rogers (CHE, £7.7m) — starts, favourable fixtures, BOU (H) up next. Usually good for 5-6 a week and he's already in 4 of 10 squads. The safe mid-price play.
Cherki (£7.8m) — expected to start for City, decent run after Liverpool away. Can go big on his day, but it's still City, and someone's always coming off on 60.
Tavernier (BOU, £6.1m) — nailed, average fixtures, hardly anyone owns him (~1 in 10). Quietly reliable.
Szoboszlai (£6.9m) — starts, but a very tough run beginning with City at home. Points will be thin for a while.
Mbeumo (MUN, £7.9m) — starter, average fixtures, Spurs at home first. Fine, not urgent.
Schade (BRE, £6.2m) — plays every week but the fixtures are tough, starting at Villa Park. Wait.
Ødegaard (£6.8m) — nailed for Arsenal, but a very tough run even with Leeds at home first. Not now.
Cunha (MUN, £7.9m) — same price and fixtures as Mbeumo, ranked below him. Buy the team-mate instead.
Gibbs-White (£8.0m) — the most expensive name here for a very tough run. No.
Barnes (NEW, £6.1m) — the sneaky one. Starts, very kind fixtures including Coventry away, owned by barely anyone (~1 in 10). If you want a punt under the radar, this is it.
Dewsbury-Hall (EVE, £6.6m) — starter, brutal fixtures. Pass.
The honest caveat on Groß: he's not a player who goes massive. He accumulates — assists, bonus, the odd goal — rather than hauling. But at £5.9m you're not buying fireworks, you're buying a bloke who never blanks and frees up £2m for your front line. That's the whole point of this price bracket.
The call: buy Groß. Best alternative if you need more upside: Rogers at £7.7m. And if your bench needs a cheap body who might actually score, Barnes is the value punt.
