Crystal Palace FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid

This is the version of Crystal Palace FPL: Who To Own, Captain And Avoid from 4 October 2026, kept for the record. The picks and the numbers have moved since. The current version →

The call — CRYSTAL PALACE: THE VALUE'S AT THE WRONG END — AND THAT'S FINE Here's the odd bit: our model's favourite Palace asset is a £4.5m left-back, at a club we rank among the league's leakier defences — 17th of 20 for keeping the ball out. That sounds like a contradiction. It isn't. It's what happens when a player starts every week…

Tyrick Mitchell is the whole argument. Nailed, five starts from five, and projected for nearly 19 points over the next six — which at £4.5m is proper money's-worth even if the clean sheets only arrive now and then. The fixture run for shut-outs is average rather than kind, so don't expect a parade of them. But he plays, he never blanks for minutes, and fewer than 1 in 10 managers own him. That's the definition of an enabler: he funds the premium at the other end and doesn't embarrass you doing it. Richards at £4.9m is the same pitch for 40p more, owned by basically nobody — take the cheaper one.

The attack is where the romance lives and the value doesn't. Palace sit mid-table for goal threat — ninth — but the run is brutal for it: Newcastle, Tottenham away, Liverpool at Selhurst. Kamada at £5.0m is the one exception worth a look, nailed and on corners, a tidy fifth-midfielder price. Yeremy has the set-piece portfolio but only four starts from five — ask yourself who's coming off on 60 before you spend £5.5m finding out. Strand Larsen has started three of five. At £6.0m, that's a rotation risk dressed as a bargain. Pass.

What changes the call? If Palace tighten up once this run eases — Coventry away is the soft landing in six weeks — the defenders get better, not worse. The attackers can wait until the fixtures do.

The call: buy Mitchell as your £4.5m starter and forget about him. Kamada if you need a cheap fifth mid. Leave the Palace attack alone until the run turns.
