FPL Chips: When To Play Your Wildcard, Bench Boost And Triple Captain — 13 Oct

This is the GW7 edition, kept for the record. The always-current version lives at fantasyfootballiq.app/fpl-wildcard/.

The call — Triple Captain: the GW7 route through Nottingham The highest ground on our map for the next two gameweeks sits away from home — and that's unusual. Our projections put Saka at 16.2 points as a triple captain in GW7, away to Forest at the City Ground. That's the best single-week number we have before the first-half deadline at GW19, and…

That alternative is Bruno Fernandes, home to Bournemouth at Old Trafford in GW8, projected at 14.1 with the chip. On the face of it, that's the textbook terrain for a Triple Captain — a premium at home, on penalties and set pieces, against a side that tends to leave the gates open. If you only trust home fixtures with this chip, it's a perfectly defensible pass.

But the map says otherwise. Our model ranks Saka's window first, and the gap is meaningful: 16.2 against 14.1 is roughly the difference between a good captain week and a great one, tripled. Saka clears near-certain 80+ minutes, which is the first thing this chip demands, and the Forest trip grades out as softer than it looks.

The honest caveat: an away fixture carries more weather than a home one. If Arsenal rotate or the game turns scrappy, you've burned your biggest chip on a middling return, and there is no second attempt before GW19. The counter-argument is just as honest — hoarding the Triple Captain in search of a perfect window is how managers reach GW18 and panic-play it into a dead end. Two credible passes through the terrain exist right now; waiting for a third that may never appear is reaction, not planning.

So here is the route. If Arsenal's team news gives you no reason to doubt Saka's minutes, play the Triple Captain on Saka in GW7, away at Forest. If anything clouds that picture before the deadline, fall back to the GW8 pass — Fernandes at home to Bournemouth — and don't look beyond it. One of these two windows should take the chip. The call for this window: Saka, GW7, triple captain.
