Six clubs heading into hard terrain — who survives the climb
Liverpool's next six read like a ridge walk with no easy descent: Bournemouth away, City at home, Brentford away, then Brighton, Arsenal and a trip to Selhurst Park. That matters, because roughly 4 in 10 of you own Szoboszlai (£7.0m) and another 2 in 10-plus hold Isak (£9.1m).
Here is the map as we see it for the next six gameweeks — and the routes worth keeping open.
Liverpool: hold the summit party, skip the defence. Despite the climate, our projections still have Isak around 25 points over the window and Szoboszlai close behind — premium talent clears rough ground that cheaper players cannot. Virgil (£6.5m) is a different story: with City, Arsenal and Brighton on the horizon, clean sheets are scarce weather. Hold the attackers, don't add to the back line.
Crystal Palace: dead end. Leeds away, Brighton away, then Newcastle, Spurs and Liverpool — this is the worst terrain on the board, tough at both ends. Mitchell (£4.5m, owned by fewer than 1 in 10) projects a modest return over six weeks. If you hold Palace defenders, this is the window to route around them.
Aston Villa: no through road for attackers. Spurs away, Newcastle away, City at home. Buendía (£5.9m, barely 1 in 10 own him) is the pick of the bunch and even he projects under 20 points across the window. Not a buy zone.
Forest: one man clears the pass. Gibbs-White (£7.9m) tops our projections among everyone listed here at roughly 26 points over six, and fewer than 1 in 10 own him — Coventry and Ipswich are the gentler stretches in an otherwise hard run. He can go big on his day, and he is nailed. Genuine route.
The budget surprise: Ipswich's back line. Tough run on paper, yet Davis (£4.0m) projects around 20 points over the window — remarkable value at the minimum price, and only half of 1 in 10 managers own him. Fulham away and Hull away are the passable stretches. Leno (£4.5m) offers Fulham a similar cheap foothold.
The call for the next six gameweeks: sell or sidestep Palace and Villa assets entirely, hold Isak and Szoboszlai through the storm, and if you're spending, take the two quiet routes — Gibbs-White at £7.9m and Davis at £4.0m. That's the plan.
