Manchester City Vs Ipswich Town FPL: Who Hauled And What It Means

The call — MCI 3–2 IPS: Haaland delivers, the City defence does not Haaland scored twice against Ipswich at the Etihad Stadium on 17 October. He played all 90 minutes, took all three bonus points and finished with 13. He costs £15.7m. Roughly 8 in 10 managers own him. He paid every one of them.

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for six gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

Now the line the other 8 in 10 came for: the City clean sheet did not hold. Ipswich scored twice. Gvardiol — owned by about 3 in 10 — played 29 minutes, picked up a yellow card and returned zero. Guéhi, owned by about 2 in 10, played 90 minutes for one point. O'Reilly came off after 60 minutes for two. Three City defenders, three points between them. That is a round the template defence lost, not won.

The returns behind Haaland came from midfield. Foden scored, took two bonus points and banked nine in 76 minutes. He costs £6.8m and hardly anyone owns him — not even 1 in 10. Doku assisted for six at £7.4m, also owned by almost no one. Kovačić assisted in 49 minutes. Ndiaye played 90, assisted, and registered five. City's attack produced for four separate players in one afternoon. The supply is real. The question with Foden and Doku is minutes — both came off before full time, and Pep rotates. That is the known risk. We will not pretend to know next week's XI.

For Ipswich, Maeda scored and returned seven points at £5.3m. Flemming scored in a 12-minute appearance. Fatawu assisted in 19 minutes. All three are owned by almost nobody. Interest at this stage is a watchlist note, not a transfer.

What the facts force. Haaland started, scored twice, swept the bonus. He does not leave your team and he takes the armband. The City defenders are the decision point: three owned players, three points, no clean sheet. If you hold Gvardiol or Guéhi, you hold a player who just returned nothing against Ipswich. Foden at £6.8m with a goal, bonus and 76 minutes is the move for the manager wanting a route into this attack without the £15.7m outlay.

The call: captain Haaland, buy Foden, and treat the City defence as sell candidates, not keepers.
