FPL Gameweek 7: The Players To Watch

This is the GW7 edition, kept for the record. The always-current version lives at fantasyfootballiq.app/fpl-transfers/.

The call — Six fixtures, one forward, forty projected points — João Pedro is the mid-price pick of the opening run. Chelsea's £7.7m striker tops our shortlist, and look at what he's walking into: EVE (A), TOT (H), MUN (H), SUN (A), LEE (H), NFO (A). Not a single scary trip in the lot. Our model has him good for around 40 points…

One squad, picked before a ball was kicked and run for five gameweeks on three transfers — no hits taken. Scored on FPL’s own results.

Here's where it gets spicy, though. Pascal Groß at £6.0m is the loudest number on the whole list — our projections have him clearing 50 points over Brighton's next six, the best of anyone here, and only about 4 in 10 managers have caught on. Yes, there are trips to Anfield and the Etihad buried in that run, but it's bookended by CRY (H), BRE (H), HUL (A) and NEW (H) — plenty of windows for a haul. At that price he's the value steal of the season's opening stretch.

Rogers (£7.8m) rides the same gorgeous Chelsea run and should land just shy of 40 points, owned by roughly 4 in 10 — a lovely pick, just behind João Pedro in our pecking order, and at a pound more than Groß the German is the sharper buy.

At the back, De Cuyper (£5.0m) is the budget defender to circle — around 30 points projected, only 3 in 10 own him, and Brighton's home games give him real clean-sheet juice. Gvardiol (£5.8m) offers similar returns from a City side opening with IPS (H), though Arsenal away looms at the end of the run. Cherki (£7.8m) is the punt of the bunch — same kind fixtures, around 29 projected, hardly a lock but capable of a loud one.

The honest caveat: Groß's run includes two of the hardest aways in the game, and nobody banks six clean weeks from any of these.

The call: get João Pedro in now — he's the spine pick — and pair him with Groß at £6.0m. That's 90-odd projected points for £13.7m, and the Groß half is one barely a third of your rivals own. Buy both before GW1.
