Do FPL Tools Need Your Password? What's Safe To Share

Short answer: No. An FPL tool never needs your FPL password. Your team ID is enough, and it's the number in the web address of your Points page on the official FPL site. If a tool asks for your password, don't give it.

Key takeaways

  1. Find your team ID in the web address of your Points page on the official FPL site.
  2. Never type your FPL password into a third-party tool, whatever reason it gives.
  3. If a tool insists on your password, close the page and pick another.
  4. Between deadlines, a tool reads the squad FPL last locked, so expect it to lag your pending transfers.
  5. Compare tools on price, features and whether they publish their record, not on how much access they ask for.

Your name and your FPL team name. That is all it takes, and we will have your answer before you have finished reading this sentence.

No FPL password, ever. We only read what FPL already publishes.

The straight answer on FPL tool passwords

You don't need to hand over your FPL password to use any FPL tool. No tool needs it to read your team, because the team ID does the job.

Your team ID is public. It identifies your squad but doesn't let anyone log in as you, move players or make transfers. Your password does all of that, which is why it should stay with you and the official FPL site.

Fantasy Premier League is free to play, so there's also no reason a tool should need access to your account to unlock the game itself.

How to find your team ID

Open the official FPL site and go to your Points page. Look at the web address in your browser. The number in it is your team ID.

Copy that number and paste it into whichever tool you're trying. That's usually the only thing you'll be asked for to see your own squad, your leagues or advice built around your picks.

It's worth saving the number in your phone notes. You'll use it any time you try a new tool, and it saves you digging for it every time.

Why a tool doesn't need to log in as you

FPL publishes every manager's picks only after the deadline passes. So between deadlines, any tool reads the squad FPL last locked, not the transfers you've lined up but haven't confirmed yet.

That's the same for everyone, and it's a feature of how FPL shares data rather than a limit of any one tool. Logging in with your password wouldn't change what a tool can fairly claim to know about your plans.

If you've made a transfer since the last deadline, a tool working from your team ID may not see it yet. Most good tools let you adjust or plan around that, but it's worth knowing before you wonder why your squad looks a week old.

What to do if a tool asks for your password

Treat it as a warning sign. Since no tool needs your password to read your team, a request for it is a reason to stop, not a step to push through.

Here's a sensible way to handle it:

  • Close the page without entering anything.
  • Look for an option to use your team ID instead. If there isn't one, move on.
  • If you've already typed your FPL password anywhere you now doubt, change it on the official FPL site straight away.
  • If you reuse that password elsewhere, change it there too.

There are plenty of tools that work from the team ID alone, so you lose nothing by walking away.

How the main tools compare

Here's where the well-known tools stand, as of 25 October 2026. We've only listed what's published; where something isn't listed, we say so.

  • Fantasy Football Scout: articles, community, podcast and data tools. The free Assistant Scout tier gives key articles, news, community, basic fixture data and a team rating. Chief Scout is £3.25 a month, billed annually. An AI chat about your team isn't listed, and it doesn't publish accuracy. Suits those who like reading and discussion alongside the numbers.
  • Fantasy Football Hub: an AI and expert platform with AI transfers, a team rating, a planner and podcasts. The AI team rating is free, with an email needed. Starter is £2.49 a month, billed yearly (a 50%-off sale price). AI chat about your team isn't listed; accuracy isn't published.
  • FPL Review: projections, a planner and a transfer solver. The free projection model in the planner costs nothing, and paid access goes through Patreon. No AI chat; accuracy isn't published as a figure. Suits planners who like a solver.
  • LiveFPL: live rank, leagues, a price predictor, a planner and a ticker, all free. There's an optional subscription to remove ads. No AI chat, and accuracy isn't published. Suits match-day watchers.
  • Fantasy Football Fix: data tools, AI transfers, ChatFPL and articles. A free account is available, and Premium is £3.48 a month, billed yearly (a limited-time price). ChatFPL lets you chat about your team; accuracy isn't published.

Where FFIQ fits

If you want a tool that works from your team ID alone and gives you a specific move for your own squad, Fantasy Football IQ (FFIQ) is one option. It never asks for your FPL password; your team ID is enough.

FFIQ gives projections for every player and the move for your team before every deadline: captain, transfers, chips and line-up. It also has Ask IQ, an AI you can ask anything about your team. You can try a good deal with no account: a projection for every player six gameweeks ahead, predicted line-ups, the weekly captain and transfer calls, and a free team rater, FPL Rate My Team.

Premium adds your move before every deadline in the War Room, IQ for any question about your own team, your mini-leagues (who's beating you and how to catch them), and price-rise alerts for your players the night before. It costs £5.99 a month (the Founding Season price, 60% off the standard £14.99), or £59.99 a year. The first month is free, though a card is needed and you can cancel any time.

To be fair, FFIQ isn't the cheapest on this list; several tools above list lower prices. FFIQ also publishes its record: picks made before each deadline and scored on FPL's results, misses included. And if you're a Scout member, you can run FFIQ alongside your Scout membership.

How to choose without risking your account

Start with the free options. Paste your team ID into a few tools, see what each tells you, and notice which one you actually open every week.

Then weigh up what you need. If you want reading and community, Scout is built for that. If you like a solver and a planner, FPL Review fits. If live rank and price changes matter most, LiveFPL is free. If you want to chat with an AI about your squad, Fantasy Football Fix has ChatFPL and FFIQ has Ask IQ.

Whichever you pick, the rule stays the same: team ID in, password never. A tool that respects that is one you can try with no worry about your account.
