Can ChatGPT Pick Your FPL Team?

Short answer: You can ask ChatGPT about your FPL team, but it shouldn't pick it for you. A general chatbot has no live projections, can't see your squad unless you type it in, and its facts can be weeks old. A dedicated FPL tool is the better choice.

Key takeaways

  1. Treat ChatGPT as a sounding board, not a source of live FPL numbers or projections.
  2. If you do use it, type in your squad, bank and free transfers every time.
  3. Check any player news or fixture claim against the official FPL site before you act.
  4. For a call before each deadline, use a tool built around FPL data and your team ID.
  5. Compare tools on price, what's free and whether they publish their record, not on promises.

What has not being with FFIQ cost you this season?

Your name and your FPL team name. That is all it takes, and we will have your answer before you have finished reading this sentence.

No FPL password, ever. We only read what FPL already publishes.

The honest answer on ChatGPT and your FPL team

ChatGPT can talk about football and it can talk about Fantasy Premier League, and that makes it tempting to hand it your squad and ask for a Wildcard team. The trouble is that a general chatbot isn't built for the job. It has no live projections, it can't see your squad unless you type it in, and the facts it leans on can be weeks old.

In FPL, that matters more than in most places. Injuries, price changes, rotation and fixture swings move quickly, and a recommendation built on stale information can cost you points in a way that's hard to spot until the deadline has passed.

So it's fine as a conversation partner, for talking through how you feel about a decision in general terms. We'd be wary of treating it as the thing that picks your team.

What goes wrong when a general chatbot picks your squad

There are three gaps, and they're worth knowing before you trust any answer.

  • No live projections. A chatbot isn't giving you a current points forecast for every player over the coming gameweeks.
  • No view of your team. It only knows what you tell it. Forget to mention your bank, your free transfers or a chip you've already played, and the advice is built on the wrong squad.
  • Facts that can be weeks old. Ask about a player's fitness or a price and you may get an answer that was true some time ago.

None of that makes it useless. It does mean you become the data-entry clerk and the fact-checker, and at that point you're doing much of the work a dedicated tool is meant to do for you.

What a dedicated FPL tool does differently

A tool made for FPL can read your actual team. Your FPL team ID is the number in the web address of your Points page on the official FPL site, and no tool needs your FPL password to read your team. The ID is enough.

One thing to understand is timing. FPL publishes every manager's picks only after the deadline passes, so between deadlines any tool reads the squad FPL last locked. That's true for every tool, not a flaw in one of them. It's also why it's worth checking how a tool handles transfers you've made since the last deadline.

The decisions themselves are well defined. You get free transfers each gameweek, extra transfers cost four points each, and you have four chips: the Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain. A tool that holds all of that in one place is solving a narrower, more specific problem than a chatbot.

The main FPL tools, and who each suits

Prices below are as of 25 October 2026, written as each company lists them.

  • Fantasy Football Scout: articles, community, podcast and data tools. The free Assistant Scout tier gives you key articles, news, community, basic fixture data and a team rating. Chief Scout is £3.25 a month, billed annually. An AI chat about your team isn't listed, and it doesn't publish its accuracy. It suits people who like reading and community debate alongside the numbers.
  • Fantasy Football Hub: an AI and expert platform with AI transfers, team rating, planner and podcasts. The AI team rating is free (email needed). Starter is £2.49 a month, billed yearly (a 50%-off sale price). AI chat about your team isn't listed and accuracy isn't published. It suits anyone who wants a low price and a planner.
  • FPL Review: projections, a planner and a transfer solver. The free projection model in the planner costs nothing, and paid access goes through Patreon. It has no AI chat and doesn't publish accuracy as a figure. It suits people who want projections and are happy to work the planner themselves.
  • LiveFPL: live rank, leagues, price predictor, planner and ticker, all free, with an optional subscription to remove ads. No AI chat and no published accuracy. It suits anyone who wants live tracking during the gameweek.
  • Fantasy Football Fix: data tools, AI transfers, ChatFPL and articles. A free account is available, and Premium is £3.48 a month, billed yearly (a limited-time price). ChatFPL is its AI chat. Accuracy isn't published. It's the closest like-for-like if what you want from ChatGPT is a chat about your team.

How to choose between them

Start with what you actually wanted from ChatGPT. If it was a chat about your own team, look for a tool that lists one: Fantasy Football Fix has ChatFPL, and FFIQ has Ask IQ. If it was projections, FPL Review's free model is a sensible place to begin. If you want live rank during a gameweek, LiveFPL does that for free.

Then look at the money. The cheapest listed entries here are Fantasy Football Hub at £2.49 a month on a sale price, Fantasy Football Scout at £3.25 a month and Fantasy Football Fix at £3.48 a month, all billed yearly. Notice the words "sale price" and "limited-time price": ask what it will cost after the offer.

Finally, ask whether the tool publishes how it has done. Most on this list say their accuracy isn't published, so a tool that shows its record, misses included, gives you something real to judge it by.

Where FFIQ fits

FFIQ is aimed at the person who likes the idea of asking an AI about their team but wants it to be looking at the real squad and real projections. It gives you projections for every player and the move for your own team before every deadline: captain, transfers, chips and line-up, plus Ask IQ, an AI you can ask anything about your team. Every call combines 34 calculations with an algorithm that keeps updating as the scenario changes.

A fair amount is free with no account: a projection for every player six gameweeks ahead, predicted line-ups, the weekly captain and transfer calls, and a free team rater called FPL Rate My Team. Premium adds your move in the War Room, IQ for any question about your own team, your mini-leagues, and price-rise alerts for your players the night before.

It isn't the cheapest option. Premium is £5.99 a month (the Founding Season price, 60% off the standard £14.99), or £59.99 a year. The first month is free, a card is needed, and you can cancel any time. FFIQ publishes its record: picks made before each deadline and scored on FPL's results, misses included. It never asks for your FPL password, as your team ID is enough, and a Scout member can run FFIQ alongside their Scout membership.

Questions managers ask

The questions people ask

Can ChatGPT build my FPL team?

It can offer suggestions if you type in your squad, but it has no live projections and its facts can be weeks old. Treat its answers as a starting point and check them against current FPL information.

Does ChatGPT know my FPL squad?

No, not unless you type it in. A dedicated tool can read your team from your FPL team ID, which is the number in the web address of your Points page.

Do I need to give an FPL tool my password?

No. No tool needs your FPL password to read your team, because the team ID is enough. Be cautious about any service that asks for it.

Is there a free alternative to ChatGPT for FPL?

Yes, several. FPL Review has a free projection model in its planner, LiveFPL's tools are free, and FFIQ offers free projections, predicted line-ups, captain and transfer calls and a team rater with no account.

Which tool has an AI chat about my own team?

From this list, Fantasy Football Fix lists ChatFPL and FFIQ has Ask IQ. Fantasy Football Scout and Fantasy Football Hub don't list one, and FPL Review and LiveFPL don't have one.
