Manchester United's next six weeks look like the softest landing in the game — and our model thinks the premium midfielder is where you cash it in.

The read: our projections rate United as one of the top four attacks in the league and one of the three meanest defences over this stretch, and the fixture list does them a favour at both ends. Hull away and Ipswich at home to open, then Everton away, with Fulham away and Tottenham at home to follow. That's a very kind run for the attack and a genuinely favourable one for clean sheets — the sort of block where a strong side's underlying numbers actually convert.

Bruno Fernandes leads our list and leads it clearly. At £12.0m and owned by roughly half the game, he isn't a differential, but he's projected in the mid-40s across the six — the biggest single return on the club and enough to justify the price tag rather than merely excuse it. Behind him, Mbeumo and Cunha both come in at £8.0m with projections in the high 20s, and both sit under 16% owned. Our model prefers Mbeumo of the two, narrowly.

The nuance: this isn't a clean six. Manchester City visit in the middle of it, and that single fixture is the reason the run is "kind" rather than "free". It also cuts differently by position. For Fernandes, one hard game is noise in a six-week window. For the defensive assets it's a chunk of the clean-sheet ceiling — and clean sheets, not upside, are the entire case for Maguire at £5.0m (6.8% owned) and Lammens at £5.0m (20.1% owned). Both are projected around 20 points, which is solid value at the price, but neither is a source of attacking returns and you shouldn't buy them expecting any. Cheap defensive coverage of a top-three defence is the pitch; nothing more.

FPL VERDICT. Fernandes: buy, and a live captain option in the opening two, with Hull away and Ipswich at home. Mbeumo: buy — £8.0m, low ownership, the best mid-price route into this attack. Cunha: watch; same price, same fixtures, but our model puts him behind his team-mate. Maguire and Lammens: hold or buy as budget enablers — £5.0m each for a defence projected to be among the league's stingiest is efficient, provided you accept the City fixture caps the ceiling.
