Aston Villa's attack is priced to travel; their clean sheets aren't.

The read. Our model ranks Villa inside the league's top six attacks over the opening six gameweeks, and it likes the schedule for scoring: Brighton away, Arsenal at home, then Hull away, Forest at home, Tottenham away and Brentford at home. That's a run our projections read as favourable for goals, even with two of the toughest away trips in there.

Ollie Watkins is the clear lead. At £8.0m with 12.5% ownership, he's our top-ranked Villa asset and projected for close to 30 points across the six — the sort of return that makes him a genuine mid-price forward anchor rather than a rotation piece. He occupies the most productive attacking slot in this side, and the model weights that heavily.

Behind him, the order is instructive. Emiliano Martinez (£5.0m, 4.2% owned) is next on our preference list, ahead of John McGinn (£5.5m) despite McGinn carrying the higher raw projection. That's deliberate: McGinn's upside is capped relative to the price, while a £5.0m keeper with save volume is a cheap route into a team the model rates well defensively — eighth-meanest in the league on our numbers.

The nuance. Those two things sit in tension. Villa's defence rates well in general terms, but the specific clean-sheet outlook across these six fixtures is genuinely tough — Brighton, Arsenal and Tottenham are not shut-out fixtures, and defensive value in FPL is clean sheets, not upside. Ezri Konsa is already 19.2% owned at £4.5m, which is a lot of managers holding a defender whose best fixtures (Hull, Forest, Brentford) are spaced awkwardly around the hard ones. Matty Cash, same price, ranks marginally higher for us but carries the same problem.

FPL VERDICT.

Watkins (£8.0m): buy. Strongest projection, low-teens ownership, and the fixture run supports goals.
Martinez (£5.0m): watch. Good value at the price if you need a keeper, but don't buy him expecting early clean sheets.
Cash / Konsa (£4.5m): hold, don't initiate. Fine to keep; better entry points arrive after the Spurs trip.
McGinn (£5.5m): avoid for now — the model ranks him below a cheaper keeper for a reason.
